Greetings and welcome to the neon attic. This neon sign collection website is here to provide you with answers about neon signs. The neon attic's topics include: What neon is; How a neon sign operates; Collecting neon signs; Caring for your collectible neon sign; Diagnosing a non-working neon sign; Testing neon sign tubes; Repairing neon signs; Precautions handling neon signs; Replacing broken neon sign tubes yourself; Neon and argon channel letter basics; Service of used neon channel letters; How to pack and ship neon signs safely; Dealing with shipping companies and shippers in general. More added as new topics come to light! The site also has galleries of my neon sign collection you can browse.

So why is this site called the neon attic??? Well, the majority of my neon sign collection is in the attic of my house. Hence this site's name - Neon Attic. Originally this whole website started out as a basic gallery page of the neon beer signs in my collection. That was back in 1998! Then my collection expanded and the signs became more diverse in the advertisement. I do have several very large neons that I display at my dealership's service department. So I can honestly say the collection has grown past the attic! I also use neon channel letters for signage at my small used car dealership. As I have sold some of my neon signs over the years, I have left the information pertaining to it on the neon sign gallery pages throughout this site. I like to leave the neon sign reference information available for others. You can bookmark this main page for reference information on old or vintage neon signs.
Why did I create this site? A few reasons. First, a website is the easiest way for me to share my prized neon signs display! Secondly, I felt neon resources for the novice collector were poor at best. Mostly sign company web boards that really are not very novice-friendly. I figured I could help change that. I know the intended use of the web was to freely share knowledge. Sure seems like 85% of the web has gotten away from that. More and more sites try to charge for information. I'm old-school and believe in old-school web intentions. So you will find no need for a credit card to get some helpful neon sign information at the Neon Attic! No charge for neon sign gallery admission either!
No, I'm not a neon tube bender. I don't work for a sign shop either. Actually I'm a mechanic by trade. So naturally, I like to take things apart and see what makes them tick! However, I've worked with neon signs as my hobby for over 25 years now. I have learned a lot through trial and error playing with broken neon signs I purchased over the years. Please click the about neonaddict link on the left to read more about me and how I feel about neon signs. Feel free to browse this website through the neon sign galleries and neon sign information links to the left. I hope to help inform you as much as I know about neon signs. I ship neons right! I can teach you to do it right too! Sound like you're interested? Good. Click around and learn, knowledge is a good thing! Visitors here to just view and appreciate neon signs galleries are most welcome!
This neon sign site has proven to be helpful for many visitors. Thanks for taking time to contact me with your questions and kind comments. Special thanks to all who have made neon repair replacement tube purchases from me. If you see a sign you are interested in, please contact me.
January 2010 - Updates to the neon channel letters page.
August 2009 - Updates to the channel letter basics and service pages.
July 2009 - New message forum for neon sign related messages can be found here.
May 2009 - Now that 2009 is well on it's way, I've been organizing the attic and getting to some forgotten projects. Look for some repaired neon signs appearing in various neon sign galleries when I get some tubes back from my neon tube maker friend.
April 2009 - Updated the site navigation April 2009 and set up a site map. I also added new pages for neon letter tubes for sale, neon channel letters basics, channel letter service, neon sign transformers and a neon gallery page for cool old neon commercial vintage sign pictures I found on the web.
Well the web domain registrars once again screwed up the domain for me as of the 7th of April of 2009. This happened before at this same time of year about 2 years ago. Someone somewhere is not doing their job. My domain renews in June, not April! Do the small irritations ever end? Sorry the site was unavailable. Now that we're back on-line again after a week of no site, I added a page for my project neon signs. For some of my project neon signs, I have sent the broken tubes out for repair. Nice to get cleaning done when you can!
